Along Sola-s Runway 3-6 a long and elegant silhouette is stretching forwards, where after it rockets into the sky soaring her nose into the clouds ...

the elegance now resembles arrogance as the aircraft sits on the air and gradually turns her nose towards higher altitudes.

SK 519, in the form a an elegant MD-82 of Scandinavian Airlines has said goodbye to the tarmac at Stavanger Int. Airport, Sola, and will, within 2 hours touch her wheels down at Europe's busiest airport, London Heathrow. This happens twice a day. Today we take it for granted, it's although a dreamlike vision of the past manifesting itself.

It's far to shallow waters at Sola's Harbour Aiport to dive deep

----------------------------------------------------------------

In Their hangar it's although possible to dive very deep indeed! Diving in neighbouring Hafrsfjord, The Fjord witch houses Stavanger Sola's Float Plane Harbour was allhough the beginning of The Flight Historical Museum of Stavanger, Sola.

A little u-boat, of historical great interest was what one was looking for. The u-boat wasn't found, but an aircraft from WW2 was. It became the start of another story, the story about Flight Historical Museum, Sola. Full of historical respect, last time with only the best, real silver film, later developed in my in-house photo lab, I've visited The Flight Historical Museum of Sola. They are an enthusiastic and work full group of people whom today present the many adventures which became the history, and what a fascinating and thrilling history it is, indeed, for all aviation enthusiasts !

History is not what is, but what was, just passing away before our eyes, or what happened even earlier. History might be said to be Our memory. It may live or die according to how we choose to treat it. Flight Historical Museum, Sola is the history of Stavanger's Sola Aiport. It was one of only 2 airports in Europe with tarmac when it opened back in 1937, needless to say, the first airport in Norway.

Which, with investments in the 100 millions during WW2 became part of an enormous aviation area, covering wast acres of land, consisting of 7 runways at 2 independent but inter-connected airports, featuring runway width of 150 metres and runway lengths of up to 3 km. The investments where then of, at least 400 million NOK (Which was a considerable amount at that time), and that's only a careful estimate. When taking into account that these investments where made in the 1940's and that the Nazi-Government of Norway instated by the occupiers enjoyed rather cheap labour (Among them Russian PoW's) these figures are tediously large.

Nearly every day which has gone by after the end of WW2 we have seen the remains beeing demolished.

27th of August 2003.  Still parts of the junction is among several parts of Stavangers Forus Aiport, still viewable. Here a photo taken from one of the ground control towers situated along Löwenstraße (Løwenstrasse) - a long interconnecting runway system between Stavanger's Sola and Forus Airports.
