The wind washes up waves on the beach, a continuous roar as The Atlantic Ocean hits The Shores of Sola. The Sola Beach, once crushed flat as massive ice-glaciers slidd down with tremdous strength grinding down The Stavanger Region to a flat landscape. We look out on the ocean, our eyes catch the horizon, where now one knew what was beyond. Brave forbearers took risks and ventured out into The open Sea, for each metre out the horizon would stretch another metre. From Sunderland, Iceland, Greenland, Vinland (America) the tales started to spread, more and more Norwegians would settle down, after setting sail into the Horizon, Geirsøy and Jørnsøy (Today Jersey, Guernsey), Sønderland (Today Sunderland, England), The Normans in England, Normandy (Today part of Paris) Norwegians settled. Over the Atlantic, a strech of water which aviation first conquered some decades ago.

Here Stavanger Airport, Sola, is seen from one of the control towers from WW2, still in existence today.

Mankind's curiosity, and constant seeking after answers was what made both The Atlantic Ocean, and the Souterhn Bassin of it, The North Sea, The Norwegian Sea, to stretches of water overcome, making the foundations of Modern Society. "Another Place" on Solastranden (Sola Beach), an exhibition by Anthony Gormley, with rusty men looking out onto the horizon, walking into deeper depths of water, and wondering what was beyond. The picture could never become more complete, depicting the hunger, the lust to conquer, witch has the baring trademarks of The Stavanger Region from the very offset. Today sailing all the seven seas, and exploring the depths, a part of cultural heritage and pioneering, making Norway Famous. The Ocean ... The Barrier for all dreams ... mythical and dangerous in it's personality, was the medium we had to conquer.

... with the Atlantic Ocean as Next Door Neighbour Stavanger International, Sola (SVG) is extremely strategically located on the South-Western tip of The Half Isle of Scandinavia. The Golf Stream upstreaming also making it the warmest climatic area in Scandinavia (Temperatures extremly seldom below 0°C).
