S.A.F.E fargeskjema. Braathens, Boeing 737-505, LN-BUD, "Inge Krokrygg", when she bore her original Braathens S.A.F.E. colour scheme. S.A.F.E by the way, standing for South American & Far East, Braathens original operations when formed in 1946, proudly beeing the first airline granted landing permissions for wheeled aircraft in China, among many of the airline's impressive merrits. Braathens was originally a significant shipping line, the airline purpose formed to bring spare parts and crews to foreign ports of Braathens Ships. The airline was however forced to abandone such operations due to SAS Scandinavian Airlines System, beeing granted a monopoly for such flights. After this Braathens experienced several years, beeing without any services, The Local and Regional Politicians in Rogaland fighting and upphill struggle of their own, to, finally in 1952, giving the airline the right to fliie between Stavanger and Oslo, exclusively, from their, Braathens became a significant and impressive airline. Many merrits followed; The forming and ownership of Inclusive Tour Companies SAGA Solreiser - Et Braathens S.A.F.E produkt in Norway - Atlas Resor in Sweden, brought significant charter operations to Braathens, and an impressive fleet utilization, wich was the best in the world on their Fokker F-28's and Boeing 737-205 aircraft in their fleet. Beeing also the selected launch customer for the types by Boeing and Fokker. The history of the airline is really an impressive one !
